3. Applications

1. This product is an excellent dispersant for coatings: it saves grinding time and raises efficiency by roughly five times. When used to treat fillers or pigments for coatings, it lowers the viscosity of the system, increases the hiding power and tinting strength of pigments, and improves the corrosion resistance, water resistance and fire resistance of the coating.

2. This product substantially raises the loading level of inorganic fillers in resins (composite products such as coatings, plastics and rubber), markedly improves the tensile strength, impact strength and elongation at break of the products, lowers the viscosity of the system, improves processability, and reduces energy consumption and production cost.

3. As a monoalkoxy pyrophosphate type coupling agent, this product is suitable not only for filler systems containing chemically and physically bound water but also for relatively moist filler systems, permitting a moderate amount of water adsorbed on the filler surface — for example talc, clay, wet silica (SiO₂), Al(OH)₃ and Mg(OH)₂.

4. Because its molecule contains pyrophosphate groups, the product has a certain flame-retardant effect and shows a synergistic effect when used together with antimony trioxide, aluminium hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide and tetrabromobiphenyl ether.

5. This product is extremely effective in the following systems: PVC with talc and CaCO₃; PP with Al(OH)₃, talc and CaCO₃; and PS with Mg(OH)₂, talc and CaCO₃.

6. When used to treat magnetic powder, this product improves its dispersion on the polymer substrate and its adhesion to the polymer, can greatly increase the magnetic powder content, and gives magnetic recording materials good flowability and coatability, higher shear strength and fewer magnetic defects.
